2019 Toyota GR Supra: fuel tank leak and fire hazard
In December 2020, recall campaign VGG78 was issued for Toyota GR Supra vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 5 September 2019 to 2 December 2019. In these vehicles, an incorrect manufacturing process could cause the vehicle’s resin fuel tank to leak. If fuel leaked in the presence of an ignition source, it could ignite and cause a vehicle fire – this circumstance posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18678.
2019-21 Toyota J29 GR Supra: reduced braking due to brake booster damage
In September 2021, recall campaign WGG51 was issued for 2019-21 Toyota J29 GR Supra vehicles (GT and GTS variants). Due to the engine management software, the vacuum pump which supported brake assistance (i.e. brake boost) could be damaged under certain engine start conditions. This could reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a collision, thereby increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and/or other road users. To fix, a Toyota dealer was to install revised engine management software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-001709.
