Recalls: Toyota XU70 Kluger

2021 Toyota XU70 Kluger: seat frames do not meet Australian Design Rules

In June 2022, recall campaign XGG05 was issued for 2021 Toyota XU70 Kluger vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the front seat-back frames were not manufactured with the minimum radius criteria to meet the requirements of Australian Design Rule (ADR 3/03). 2023 Toyota XU70 Kluger and Kluger Hybrid: driver’s airbag may not deploy

In October 2023, recall campaign YGG39 was issued for 2023 Toyota Kluger vehicles with 2.4-litre petrol engines and Kluger Hybrid vehicles with 2.5-litre petrol engines. In these vehicles, the driver side airbag wiring harness connection may become loose over time. If this occurred, the airbag warning light would illuminate and the driver’s side airbag would not deploy. In the event of a collision, the failure of the airbag to deploy could increase the driver’s risk of injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005797.

2021-23 Toyota XU70 Kluger and Kluger Hybrid: front bumper cover assembly may detach

In November 2023, recall campaign YGG74 was issued for 2021-23 Toyota XU70 Kluger and Kluger Hybrid vehicles. These vehicles were fitted with a resin front lower bumper cover assembly that was connected with mounting tabs. If there was a minor impact to the lower front bumper cover that caused the mounting tabs to detach from the vehicle, one or more parts of this assembly could detach. These parts could become a hazard hazard that increased the risk of a collision and injury for other road users. As part of the recall, the mounting tabs were to be inspected for damage. If there was no damage, the Toyota dealer would fit ‘retention hardware’ with an improved design. If there was damage to the front bumper cover assembly, the Toyota dealer would replace the upper and lower front bumper cover. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005813.
