Recalls: Volvo 960

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Volvo 960

  • In February 1991, a recall was issued for Volvo 960 vehicles due to possible swelling of the region of the fuel tank inlet which may affect the rubber gasket and create a fire hazard (PRA 1991/1213).
  • In July 1995, a recall was issued for model year 1992 and 1993 Volvo 960 vehicles because the seat belt webbing guide could break under heavy loads, thereby reducing the restraining properties of the seatbelt in an accident (PRA 1995/2530).
  • In November 1996, a recall was issued for Volvo 960 vehicles due to the possibility that screws attaching the throttle plate to its axle may have insufficient torque – as a result, the loose plate may contact the throttle housing, preventing throttle return (PRA 1996/2979).
