Review: Chrysler NS Grand Voyager (1997-01)

Overview

Released in February 1997, the Chrysler NS Grand Voyager was a seven seat people mover. Manufactured in Missouri, USA, the front-wheel drive Voyager was powered by a 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine that mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The 3.3-litre pushrod V6 petrol engine had a cast iron block, aluminium cylinder heads, two valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 8.9:1.

The NS Grand Voyager was initially offered in two variants – SE and LE – though the range was expanded in 1998 with an LE LTD variant. In 2000, the LE LTD was replaced by the LX variant. The full range is given in the table below.

The NS Grand Voyager was sold alongside Chrysler’s NS Voyager – this model has been reviewed separately. Compared to the Voyager, the Grand Voyager was 337 mm longer (at 5070 mm), 49 mm taller (1789 mm) and had a 152 mm longer wheelbase (3030 mm); width, however, was unchanged (1950 mm). The NS Grand Voyager had MacPherson strut front suspension and leaf spring rear suspension.
