Overview
Released in September 1999, the Chrysler PL2000 Neon was a small sedan. Manufactured in Belvidere, Illinois, the front-wheel drive Neon was powered by a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine which had a cast-iron block, an aluminium single overhead camshaft cylinder head, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 9.8:1.
The PL2000 Neon was initially available with either a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. In April 2001, however, the three-speed automatic transmission was replaced with a four-speed unit; standard features were also improved.

Compared to the PL101 Neon , the PL2000 Neon was 26 mm longer (at 4390 mm), 1 mm wider (1715 mm), 52 mm taller (1421 mm) and had a 25 mm longer wheelbase (2667 mm). The new body was stiffer body and also provided greater refinement through the introduction of full-framed doors and implementation of better-sealed body openings.
Suspension
The PL2000 Neon had MacPherson strut front suspension and Chapman strut rear suspension with dual lower transverse links.
