Review: Daewoo Espero (1995-97)
Overview
Released in March 1995, the Daewoo Espero was a mid-size sedan. Manufactured in Bupyeong, South Korea, the front-wheel drive Espero was powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that was mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The 2.0-litre ‘Family II’ petrol engine was manufactured by GM Holden and had a single overhead camshaft, two valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 8.8:1.
Styled by Bertone, the Espero was underpinned by General Motors’ J-Type platform. As such, the Espero was 4615 mm long, 1718 mm wide, 1388 mm tall and had a 2620 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Espero had MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle.
In 1997, the Espero was replaced by the Daewoo Leganza .

Features
Standard features included a four speaker sound system with CD player, air conditioning, central locking, front fog lights, powered front windows and a height and reach adjustable steering wheel.
