Review: Daihatsu J100 Terios (1997-00)

Overview

Released in July 1997, the Daihatsu J100 Terios was a compact four-wheel drive wagon. Manufactured in Japan, the Terios was powered by a 1.3-litre HC-EJ four-cylinder petrol engine; transmission options consisted of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The Terios had a monocoque chassis and was 3845 mm long, 1555 mm wide, 1695 mm tall and had a 2420 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Terios had MacPherson strut front suspension and a live rear axle.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the Terios included dual front airbags.

Features

Standard features for the DX variant included a two speaker sound system with a radio and cassette player, and power mirrors. The SX was further equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, a four speaker sound system, air conditioning, central locking, power windows, roof rails and a rear spoiler.

From June 1999, air conditioning was fitted as standard.

Review: Daihatsu J102 Terios (2000-05)

Overview

Released in October 2000, the J102 Terios was powered by a new 1.3-litre K3-VE petrol engine with double overhead cams, variable valve timing, distributor-less ignition and sequential fuel injection. Visually, the J102 Terios could be identified by its vertical grille bars, new bumpers, tail-lights and wheel covers.

Aero 2001

Features

Compared to its J100 predecessor, standard features for the J102 Terios were extended to include a Kenwood CD player and an immobiliser.

In May 2004, standard features were extended to include15-inch alloy wheels and front fog lights, while the SX was fitted with a sunroof.

2001 Terios Aero

In July 2001, limited-run Aero variants were released. Compared to the SX, the Aero variants were distinguished by their unique alloy wheels, ‘Aero’ body kit, tilt-opening sunroof, high-grade seats and updated dashboard.
