Overview

Released in October 2009, the Great Wall H3 X240 was a four-wheel drive SUV. Manufactured in Baoding, China, the X240 was powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual dual-range transmission. The Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4-litre 4G64 petrol engine had a single overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 9.8:1.

Sold in other markets as the Haval H3, the X240 was 4620 mm long, 1800 mm wide, 1810 mm tall and a 2700 mm long wheelbase. The X240 had independent double wishbone front suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers and a torsion bar. At the rear, the X240 had dependent suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment included dual front airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution and front seatbelt pretensioners.

ANCAP crash testing

In ANCAP crash testing , the X240 received a four star adult occupant protection rating with a score of 25.48 out of 37. In the offset crash test, protection from serious leg injury was marginal for the driver and there was a slight risk of serious chest injury for both front occupants. In the side impact test, a default score was applied.

Standard features for the X240 included 17-inch alloy wheels, an eight speaker sound system with CD player and MP3-compatibility, climate control air conditioning, leather seats, front fog lights, rear parking sensors, remote central locking, power mirrors, courtesy lights, a cargo cover and an immobiliser.
