Overview

Released in April 2011, the Great Wall H5 X240 was a four-wheel drive SUV. Manufactured in Baoding, China, the X240 was powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to a five-speed manual dual-range transmission. The Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4-litre 4G64 petrol engine had a single overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 9.8:1.

Compared to the H3 X240 , the H5 was 29 mm longer (at 4649 mm), 10 mm wider (1810 mm) and 75 mm lower (1735 mm), though wheelbase length was unchanged (2700 mm). Visually, the H5 X240 could be identified by its revised front bumper, grille and more angular headlights.

Sold in other markets as the Haval H5, the X240 had independent double wishbone front suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers and a torsion bar. At the rear, the X240 had dependent suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers.
