Overview

Released in June 2009, the Great Wall K2 V240 utility was available in a dual cab body and with rear- or four-wheel drive. Manufactured in Baoding, China, the V240 was powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, the V240 utility was initially offered as a Super Luxury variant.

The Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4-litre 4G64 petrol engine had a single overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 9.8:1. The V240 utility was 5040 mm long, 1800 mm wide, 1730 mm tall and had a 3050 mm long wheelbase; ground clearance was 309 mm. Furthermore,

  • Maximum payload for the V240 was 1000 kg;
  • Maximum unbraked towing capacity was 750 kg; and,
  • Maximum braked towing capacity was 2250 kg.

The V240 utility had double wishbone front suspension with a torsion bar and independent, leaf spring rear suspension.

April 2011: Great Wall V240 update

In April 2011, the V240 dual cab was updated and the Super Luxury moniker was discontinued; these models could be identified by their more angular headlights and larger grille.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the V240 utility included dual front airbags, ABS and electronic brake force distribution.

The V240 had ventilated front brake discs and rear drum brakes.

ANCAP crash testing

In ANCAP crash testing , the V240 dual-cab received a two star adult occupant safety rating due to the high risk of life-threatening injury in the frontal offset crash test (scoring 2.36 out of 16). A default score of 16 was applied for the side impact test which, combined with other deductions, gave an overall score of 16.49.

Features

Standard features for the V240 single cab utility included 16-inch alloy wheels, a six speaker sound system with CD player, air conditioning, leather seats, front fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, a height adjustable steering wheel and an immobiliser.

From April 2011, the V240 dual cab was further equipped with steering wheel audio controls.
