Overview

Released in June 2009, the Great Wall SA220 was a rear-wheel drive, dual-cab utility. Manufactured in Baoding, China, the SA220 was powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The SA220 was 5160 mm long, 1690 mm wide, 1680 mm tall and had a 3025 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore,  

  • Maximum payload for the SA220 was 855 kg;
  • Maximum unbraked towing capacity was 750 kg; and,
  • Maximum braked towing capacity was 1800 kg.

The SA220 had double wishbone front suspension with a torsion bear and independent, leaf spring rear suspension.

Safety equipment

The SA220 was not fitted with safety equipment such as airbags or ABS. As such, occupant protection in the SA220 was substantially limited to its structural design.

The SA220 was fitted with ventilated front brake discs and rear drum brakes.

ANCAP crash testing

In ANCAP crash testing , the SA220 received a two star adult occupant protection rating due to the high risk of life-threatening injury in the frontal offset crash test (scoring 2.32 out of 16).

Features

The Great Wall SA220 was solely available in a Super Luxury variant which featured 15-inch alloy wheels, a four speaker sound system with a CD player and auxiliary input, air conditioning, leather-trimmed seats, front fog lamps, remote central locking, power mirrors, power windows and a height adjustable steering wheel.
