Overview
Released in August 2012, the Nissan N17 Almera was a light, front-wheel drive sedan. Manufactured in Thailand, the N17 Almera was powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The Almera range consisted of two variants: the entry-level ST and better-equipped Ti.
HR15DE engine
The Almera was powered by Nissan’s 1.5-litre HR15DE four-cylinder petrol engine which had an aluminium block and cylinder head, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 10.1:1.
Body and dimensions
The Almera was based on Nissan’s ‘V’ platform which was also shared with the K13 Micra . Compared to the Micra, however, the Almera was 715 mm longer (at 4495 mm), 30 mm wider (1695 mm), 80 mm lower (1445 mm) and had a 100 mm longer wheelbase (2535 mm).
Suspension
The Altima had MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension (with front and rear stabiliser bars).

Safety equipment
Standard safety equipment for the Almera included dual front airbags, front side airbags, full-length curtain airbags (i.e. for front and rear occupants), ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters.
Features
Standard features for the Almera ST included 15-inch steel wheels with 185/65 R15 tyres, a four speaker sound system with MP3-compatibility and an auxiliary 3.5 mm input, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, a multi-function steering wheel (i.e. audio and Bluetooth controls), remote central locking, power mirrors, a tilt adjustable steering wheel, trip computer and an immobiliser.
The Almera Ti was further equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, climate control air conditioning, front fog lights, rear parking sensors, proximity key, push-button start and variable intermittent wipers. Inside, the Almera Ti was fitted with a rear centre armrest that had integrated cup holders and adjustable rear headrests; the Almera Ti variant could also be identified by its rear spoiler.
