Review: Renault X70.I Master cab chassis (2004-07)
Overview
Released in August 2004, the Renault X70 Phase I (X70.I) Master cab chassis was powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Master was initially available in two editions, Air and Integral, though the latter was discontinued after 2004. In May 2005, a semi-automatic ‘Quickshift’ transmission was introduced and featured two driving modes: a flick-shift manual mode and a full automatic mode.

Safety equipment
Standard safety equipment for the Master Cab Chassis Air included a driver’s airbag, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist and a driver’s seatbelt pretensioner and load limiter. The Integral added a passenger’s airbag and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters.
Features
Standard features for the Master Cab Chassis Air included a two speaker sound system with CD player, air conditioning, chilled glovebox, heat-reflecting windscreen, trip computer and immobiliser. The Integral was further equipped with remote central locking, heated power mirrors, power windows and motion-sensing alarm.
Review: Renault X70.II Master cab chassis (2007-09)
Overview
Released in May 2007, the X70 Phase II (X70.II) Master cab chassis featured a revised line-up, Euro IV compliant engines, improved equipment levels and interior trim. The editions were discontinued, as was the six-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, the 2.5-litre turbo-diesel (‘dCi’) engine was more powerful, producing an additional 4 kW and 10 Nm.

Safety equipment
Compared to its X70.I predecessor, safety equipment was improved with dual front airbags and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters fitted as standard.
