Overview

Released in January 2000, the Rolls-Royce Mk.V Corniche was a two-door, four-seat convertible with a soft-top roof. Hand-built in Crewe, England, and made to order, the rear-wheel drive Corniche was powered by a turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 petrol engine that was mated to a four-speed 4L80-E automatic transmission. Only 374 Mk.V Corniche vehicles were built during its production run.

VL410MT V8 engine

The 6.75-litre VL410MT V8 petrol engine had an aluminium-silicon alloy cylinder block with cast iron wet cylinder liners, aluminium alloy cylinder heads, a single light-pressure turbocharger, overhead valves, two valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 8.0:1.

Dimensions and suspension

Sharing its platform with the Bentley Mk.1 Azure, the Mk.V Corniche was 5405 mm long, 2050 mm wide, 1475 mm tall and had a 3061 mm long wheelbase; kerb weight was 2735 kg.

The Mk.V Corniche had double wishbone front and independent rear suspension with semi-trailing arms; the suspension also included an adaptive ride control function which automatically adjusted the suspension dampers according to driving conditions.
