Review: Ssangyong Q100.I Actyon Sports (2007-08)

Overview

Released in March 2007, the Ssangyong Q100 Series Mk.I (Q100.I) Actyon Sports was a dual cab utility. Manufactured in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, the Q100 Actyon Sports was powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that was mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The Actyon Sports was available with rear-wheel drive or with a part-time four-wheel drive system that was electronically engaged and had dual-range gearing. The Actyon Sports range initially consisted of an unnamed, entry-level variant and the better-equipped Limited.

Engine

The Actyon Sports’ 2.0-litre diesel engine had common-rail injection, a variable geometry turbocharger, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 17.5:1.

Dimensions and suspension

The Actyon Sports was 4965 mm long, 1900 mm wide, 1755 mm tall and had a 3060 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Actyon Sports had double wishbone front suspension with coil springs and a five-link live rear axle.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the Q100.I Actyon Sports included dual front airbags and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters. The Actyon Sports Limited was also equipped with ABS.

Features

Standard features for the Actyon Sports included a four speaker sound system with CD player, air conditioning, remote central locking, front fog lights, split and folding rear seats, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable front seats, power mirrors and windows, 12 volt power outlets, trip computer and immobiliser.

The Actyon Sports Limited was further equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, climate control air conditioning, power adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and anti-glare rear view mirror; automatic models were also fitted with cruise control.

Review: Ssangyong Q100.II Actyon Sports (2008-11)

Overview

Released in May 2008, the Q100 Series Mk.II (100.II) Actyon Sports introduced a revised range, Euro IV emissions compliant engines and a six-speed automatic transmission (with steering wheel gearshift buttons and a ‘winter mode’ second gear take-off function).

Whereas the Q100.I Actyon Sports range consisted of entry-level and Limited variants, the entry-level variant was renamed the ‘Tradie’ for the Q100.II Actyon Sports range. Furthermore, the Limited was replaced by the SPR and the range was expanded with an unnamed, mid-range variant.

Safety equipment was substantially the same as for the Q100.I Actyon Sports, although ABS was fitted to the unnamed and SPR variants (but not the Tradie).

ANCAP crash testing

In ANCAP crash testing , the Actyon Sports Tradie received a three star adult occupant protection rating with a score of 24.01 out of 37.

Features

Standard features for the entry-level Actyon Sports Tradie were the same as for its Q100.I equivalent. Beyond the features of the Tradie, the mid-range variant added 16-inch alloy wheels; automatic models were also fitted with cruise control. Compared to the Q100.I Limited, the SPR was distinguished by its 18-inch alloy wheels.
