Overview

Released in August 1995, the Volkswagen B4 Passat was a mid-size sedan. Manufactured in Emden, Germany, the front-wheel drive VW B4 Passat was available with either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (the ‘2.0i’) variants or a 2.8-litre narrow-angle V6 (‘VR6’). Transmission options consisted of a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual.

The Volkswagen B4 Passat was 4605 mm long, 1720 mm wide, 1430 mm tall and had a 2475 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Passat had independent, multi-link front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle with trailing arms.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the Volkswagen B4 Passat included dual front airbags, ABS and front seatbelt pretensioners; the Passat VR6 was further equipped with traction control.

Features

Standard features for the Volkswagen Passat 2.0i included a six speaker sound system with a radio and cassette player, air conditioning, cruise control, central locking, power windows and mirrors, a trip computer and an immobiliser.

Beyond this, the Passat VR6 added 15-inch alloy wheels and leather-wrapped steering wheel; the VR6 was also fitted with a limited slip differential.
