Overview
Released in Australia in October 2005, the Volkswagen T5 Kombi was a nine seat people mover. Manufactured in Hanover, Germany, the front-wheel drive VW Kombi was available with either 1.9- and 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engines that were mated to either five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions, respectively.
1.9 TDI and 2.5 TDI Engines
Of the engines,
- The 1.9-litre four-cylinder diesel engine had a grey cast iron block, a cast aluminium alloy cylinder head, a die-forged steel crankshaft, fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, Pumpe Duse direct injection, a variable geometry turbocharger, a single overhead camshaft (belt-driven), two valves per cylinder, bucket tappets and a compression ratio of 19.0:1; and,
- The 2.5-litre five-cylinder diesel engine had an aluminium alloy block and cylinder head, Bosch Pumpe D�se direct injection, a die-forged steel crankshaft, a variable geometry turbocharger with intercooler, a single overhead camshaft (gear-driven), two valves per cylinder, hydraulic bucket tappets, a compression ratio of 18.0:1 and a diesel particulate filter.
Dimensions
The standard wheelbase Volkswagen T5 Kombi was 4890 mm long, 1904 mm wide, 1959 mm tall and had a 3000 mm long. The long wheelbase (LWB) Kombi, however, had a 400 mm longer wheelbase (at 3400 mm) and was 400 mm longer (5290 mm).
Suspension
The VW T5 Kombi had MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle.

Safety equipment
Standard safety equipment for the Volkswagen T5 Kombi included dual front airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, traction control and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters.
The Kombi was also fitted with an electronic differential lock as standard.
Features
Standard features for the Volkswagen Kombi included a four speaker sound system with CD player, air conditioning, rear fog lights, remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, tinted windows and an immobiliser.
