2019 Kia UM Sorento: FCA software error and absence of braking assistance

In December 2019, recall campaign 191139 was issued for Kia UM Sorento vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 26 February 2019 to 24 December 2019. Due to an error in the Frontal Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) software, it may fail to recognise a stationary vehicle or a pedestrian. If this occurred, the braking assist function may not activate during a frontal collision and this increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/18076.
