Overview

Released in May 2011, the Aston Martin Virage was available as a coupe or convertible (Volante). Manufactured in Gaydon, England, the rear-wheel drive Virage was powered by a 5.9-litre V12 petrol engine that was mated to a six-speed ‘Touchtronic II’ automatic transmission with steering wheel gearshift paddles. Positioned between the DB9 and DBS – and sharing their platforms – the Virage had ‘2+2’ seating, though ‘2+0’ seating with a rear parcel shelf was available as an option.

Hand-built in Köln, Germany, the 5935 cc all-alloy V12 engine had double overhead camshafts (per cylinder bank), four valves per cylinder, a compression ratio of 10.9:1 and a stainless steel exhaust system with active bypass valves.

The Virage was 4720 mm long, 1905 mm wide, 1280 mm tall and had a 2740 mm long wheelbase. The Virage had double wishbone front and rear suspension which included Aston Martin’s Adaptive Damping System (ADS). Using yaw, accelerometer, steering wheel, throttle and brake sensors, the ADS could apply the most appropriate damper settings, though the driver could also override the selection.
