Overview

Released in March 1997, the Volvo S90 was a large, rear-wheel drive sedan. Manufactured in Sweden, the Volvo S90 was powered by Volvo’s 2.9-litre B6304 engine which had double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder; a four-speed automatic transmission was fitted as standard. Essentially a re-badged 960 , the S90 was offered in SE and long wheelbase Royal variants.

Dimensions and suspension

The Volvo S90 SE was 4871 mm long, 1750 mm wide, 1440 mm tall and had a 2770 mm long wheelbase. The S90 Royal, however, had a 150 mm longer wheelbase (at 2920 mm) and was 150 mm longer (at 5021 mm). The S90 had MacPherson strut front suspension and independent, multi-link rear suspension.

Standard safety equipment for the Volvo S90 included dual front airbags, front side airbags, ABS and front seatbelt pretensioners.

Features

Standard features for the Volvo S90 SE included 16-inch alloy wheels, a six speaker sound system with CD player, climate control air conditioning, leather seats, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, a height and reach adjustable steering wheel, power sunroof and an immobiliser.

The Volvo S90 Royal was further equipped with power adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped gear knob and an alarm system.
