Overview
Released in March 2009, the Citroën Mk.2 Phase I (Mk.2-I) Berlingo was two-seat, three-door van. The front-wheel drive Berlingo was offered in L1 and L2 variants, though both had the same wheelbase at 2728mm. Engine choices consisted of a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine, though the L2 was solely available with the turbo-diesel engine; both engines mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
From November 2014, the Berlingo L2 was available with a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine which featured a stop-start system for engine shutdown when the vehicle was stationary in traffic; these models were solely available six-speed semi-automatic transmissions (ETG6) which could be operated via steering wheel gearshift paddles.
The Berlingo had MacPherson strut front suspension with lower wishbone suspension arms and independent rear trailing arm suspension with a semi-deformable transverse beam.

Safety equipment
Standard safety equipment for the Citroën Berlingo included a driver’s airbag, ABS, brake assist, seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters and anti-submarining front seats.
For the Berlingo L2 with the semi-automatic transmission (available from November 2014), electronic stability control was fitted as standard.
Euro NCAP crash testing
In Euro NCAP crash testing , the Citro�n Mk.2 Berlingo received a four star adult occupant protection rating with an overall score of 27.2 out of 37. In the front offset crash test, the Berlingo score 11.55 out of 16, with marginal protection from serious chest and leg injury for the driver.
Features
Standard features for the Citro�n Berlingo included a two speaker sound system with CD player, cruise control, tilt and reach adjustable steering wheel, remote central locking, tinted windows, trip computer and immobiliser. In addition to the left-hand side sliding door of the L1, the L2 was also fitted with a right-hand side sliding door.
From February 2012, Citro�n Berlingo models with turbo-diesel engines were further equipped with Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity and a rear cargo mat.

Review: Citroën Mk.2-II Berlingo (2015-18)
Overview
Officially released in Australia in November 2015, the Citroën Mk.2 Phase II (Mk.2-II) Berlingo introduced a more powerful petrol engine and had sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle as standard. The Berlingo L2 was available with manual and semi-automatic transmissions, though only engine with the semi-automatic transmission had a ‘stop/start’ function which enabled the engine to shut down when the vehicle was stationary in traffic.

Standard features for the Citroën Mk.2-II Berlingo included 15-inch ‘Feroe’ wheel covers, a CD player, auxiliary inputs (3.5 mm/USB), seven-inch touch-screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, voice recognition, air conditioning, cruise control, reversing camera, a height and reach adjustable steering wheel, power mirrors, a height adjustable driver’s seat, 12 volt power socket, moulded floor protector, a trip computer and an immobiliser.
The Berlingo L2 with the semi-automatic transmission was also fitted with steering wheel gearshift paddles.
As an option, the Mk.2-II Berlingo could be specified with an extra-cost ‘look-pack’ which included 15-inch ‘Airflow’ wheel covers, LED daytime-running lamps, directional fog lamps, body-coloured bumper bars, door handles and side strips.
